The docs indicate that timestamp micros can be used to send a historical hit within the last 48 hours.

Added date argument to send and _http_post
timestamp micros is only set then if date is provided.
Methods were added to ensure that the provided date is not in the past.
The argument is to be provided as a Python datetime object so as to give the user control.

My apologies that the git diff will look so bad, I have an autoformatter set and unintentionally formatted the code.

After some testing, I managed to validate the historical hit today.
