Keyboard illumination turned off #31

Open utack opened 9 years ago

Occasionaly the keyboard illumination is set to zero, in software. It can be turned on again easily, but it should not be happening. I have yet to find a pattern how this happens, probably a while after unplugging it from the power source. If this happens to others, could you please confirm it?

System: UEFI A05 Arch Linux Kernel 4.1.6 Cinnamon DE

I'm having the opposite issue. The keyboard illumination is turned on automatically. It seems to occur after resuming from suspend.

Can the keyboard illumination be controlled from the command line?

I filed a private bug report a few days ago in our HWE project, as I started seeing this in Ubuntu 15.10 (wily). I recommend filing a public bug report. I can point the private bug report at that.

I forget where I discussed this with some other people, but it seems that the possible cause for customers seeing the opposite bug (backlight turns off when it should stay on) is that the state that gets changed to is dependent on the BIOS setting for the keyboard backlight default state. The bug we're seeing is that the keyboard backlight state changes when it shouldn't be, and that itself is a software bug.

Reported on launchpad too: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1510344

In ubuntu 15.04, it remembers keyboard backlight state. That is what I want. But in ubuntu 15.10, every time boot / resume from suspend, keyboard backlight is turned on.

having the same issue on fedora 24. The keyborad is turned off after suspend.
