i61 addition - Robustness for null issues #179

Just got a few null issues when testing this morning.

never mind with this. I squeezed this into branch temp/screen-share-pair as I can make a test out of it.

Not sure why when testing this branch this morning was the first time that I got these issues. I assumed it was your refactor though its is also on temp/screen-share-pair
