Volumio Plugin & DietPi hosting #184

Hello,

A Volumio plugin through which you can browse and stream from an audiobookshelf server would be really useful. As would working with DietPi to add audiobookshelf to their catalogue of easy to install and manage applications.

Thanks for considering these suggestions.

Thanks for these suggestions.

Volumio looks like it will be some work, but definitely doable. I'd love to get this installed on my RPi and test it out, it could be a while before I get the time to do that, so maybe someone else could take the reins for the plugin. I was looking at how the Jellyfin plugin was made and it seems fairly straightforward: https://github.com/volumio/volumio-plugins/tree/master/plugins/music_service/jellyfin

DietPi has software requests on their github page: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issues/new/choose. I looked through how they handle software installs and audiobookshelf should already be setup for this. Audiobookshelf debian packages are hosted on github though (https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf-ppa), so I may just need to find a better home for those. If you request the software and they are interested in including it, I can make whatever adjustments to get it included.

Cool. I hope something comes of the Volumio plugin. It'd be nice to release audiobook playback from the makeshift combination of mobiles and fritzy BT speakers. Something a little more living-room friendly.

I've put in a request at the DietPi forum. Where it's perhaps more likely to be noticed and supported by other DietPi users.
