A bit of a hack I wrote to fix Trigger's issue with not controlling wifi hotspot in Oreo. Turned into sovling two issues:

Forgive my ignorance, but I found this via StackOverflow and your blog, which said "the app is here."

Should I expect to find an .apk? I don't see one, and it shows 0 releases. I'm not a dev, no clue on how to build from source.

Hi mike.

Nah I just put code up on GitHub...never really though anyone would look at it 😉 App really written for a pretty unique use case (of one! My car!): http://www.floatingintheclouds.com/app-wifi-hot-spot-on-oreo/ And I could not say for sure whether it will work on you phone and stuff. But if you reckon it will be useful to you I’ll try and build it & email it to you at weekend. The building it from that GitHub actually pretty easy when you get your head round it, pretty steep learning curve though.

Thanks. I think I've got something worked out. I was able to create a Magisk module for a Tasker plug-in (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matejdro.taskertethercontrol&hl=en). That seems to do what I want - hotspot comes on when Bluetooth connected to the car and power is plugged in, goes off when neither are present.

No worries. Hope works for you. If you run into probs, flick me an email and I'll send APK for mine.
