I have looked into this. Answering our CQs relies on using OBI's "age measurement datum" along with data object properties. I am looking for existing ontology design patterns that suggest ways of using this to ensure interoperability with other (potential) users of hsapdv for clinical data.
We want an ontology that does not assume a human patient population. However, you are correct that his portion of the ontology does make reference to humans specifically. Of note, to reuse HSAPDV, we will need to connect age ranges such as >= 18 years of age to HSAPDV classes. Since the developmental stages listed are fiat, there will not always be a one-to-one correspondence. For example, we can connect this age range to the anonymous class "human adult stage OR 18-year-old human stage" or " 'preceded by' some 17-year-old human stage'"
I have looked for documentation motivating using developmental stages in place of age (PATO_0000011) as a quality. I will continue looking, but if you have references, I would value them.
