maybe use google translate (or any other translation service) to edit the remaining languages accordingly. i seem to remember that this was also used for text editing in the past.

ghost commented 3 years ago

I don't mind doing that, I am worried it may result in some of the same awkward language which can be kind of weird to read for a native speaker. Do you think that is a concern at all?

aeon1234 commented 3 years ago

i would prefer to read an unfavorable translation before i read an old/outdated translation or none at all. the vast majority of people already understand written english for the most part when they currently find this website and are interested in cryptocurrencies.

also anyone can submit a PR at a later date to improve the translations.

Ok, I will do that last to leave this open for other comments about the content of the other changes.

aeon1234 commented 3 years ago

unfortunately it also applies to the changes in #114 . perhaps someone else can also comment on this.

may I ask what is meant by a small footprint in your suggestion of a digital currency with a small footprint?

ghost commented 3 years ago

Yeah .. this might just be American culture but it is often used to describe something that is efficient in memory usage. Sometimes people can also say reduce your "carbon footprint" It is basically a metaphor to describe the impact it will have.

These might help

thank you. you never stop learning. I have actually never heard of this in connection with memory usage.

what do you think about a digital currency with a small footprint and a practical level of privacy? I think this better reflects the current situation without RingCT (and I also got it cheeky from stoffu's revision from the difference section).

I had a quick look. the file with the translations was edited several times and there were actually only 2 cases until now:

1) all related translations were changed to english (mostly for longer sentences), see #85 #94 2) all related translations were translated with one of the usual online translation programs (mostly for shorter phrases), see #57 #85 #90

but old or outdated translations were not maintained, which I also would not recommend.

I love that. I wanted to make the play on words with small footprint but BIG focus on private transactions but you're right that is not a fair description.

Ok for translations.
