Overall I support your idea of having a whitepaper that details specifications and summarizes the history.

I suggest hosting this document also on this github repo so that others can contribute edits.

Thanks for your support! I'm glad you recognize the importance of this idea. I want to have a little more rapid pace of development so I intend on maintaining a separate repo for now. Anyone is welcome to contribute! https://github.com/yorha-0x/aeon-website/blob/main/files/whitepaper.html . Also it can always be copied to here directly now or in the future I don't care. Just trying to get something going and waiting for everyone's approval for every little update can be frustrating.

Also I kind of like the idea of decentralizing some things, Smooth is already doing more work for Aeon than they set out to as it is. If Aeon is going to grow we are going to need some more maintainers. I'm happy to step up and help out. Maybe we can have you maintain the aeon GUI. Smooth can add you as a collaborator and then you can merge some requests. Would you be interested?

I disagree with your way of maintaining it outside this repo. A whitepaper is what people consider as an important document, and it should be maintained with rigorous reviewing and checking by the community. What you're proposing now is to allow you to arbitrarily change it without being approved by the community.

I'm fine with smooth's pace of merging PRs.
