We need to write the welcome email for Sunday. Explain ourselves, what we've built, where we are going, why we would like people to use it etc.

Has a very rough crack at an intro email - https://gist.github.com/quamen/26b8f6f5fbd5a53c449b

@plasticine thoughts?

@quamen Commented on the gist—I (mostly) like it, though I had a few thoughts today while I was out on the bike.

This is very much a minimum viable product, it is actually quite embarassing how little the site currently does, given how long we have been working on it.

We want your data, and in return, we promise to build new features quickly.

I don’t like these paragraphs. I don’t think we should feel the need to be defensive, and I don’t think this sets the right tone.

How about something like;

We’ve been working on the app in our spare time, so at the moment we’ve really just focused on getting a minimum viable product up so that we can start getting some real feedback, from real users (hopefully you!).

So far we’ve spent our time on building features aimed at getting data into the system; uploading from a Garmin, parsing and storing workout data, and some rudimentary display of workouts — a good foundation to start building some more ambitious stuff.

Were busy working on the next round of features to do all sorts of interesting things with this workout data, but in the meantime we’re hoping that you’ll help us kick the tyres on the first milestone for the app.

IMO, this is less defensive and better expresses the current state of the app. Thoughts?
