Segment Summary: Proposed revisions to layout #400

v 1.2.0 (23)

Now that you have the excellent split battery design implemented, I'd like to propose a streamlined appearance for the Segment Summary dialog focusing on the key highlights per leg.

If we go with blank, should the zaps be removed as well?

aesculus commented 7 years ago

I am OK with the gray zaps and it provides continuity. Personally I think the gray 0:00 might be best

aesculus commented 7 years ago

Here is blanks in both places. Note the summary is spread out and spacing is a bit wider too.

Here they are in palegray

The second version with the gray out '0:00' is good.

Can you scoot the distance a touch to the left at the charging stops? It looks like it's somehow part of the battery data.

You could spread the summary bottom row items even more

aesculus commented 7 years ago

This may be as good as I can get it. Note I have to leave space between the elapsed time and distance in case either grows.

This dialog is really looking good. It's packed with content, and easy to discover relevant data. I have two possible suggestions for improving the appearance even further:

1) Align the bottom of the pins with the bottom of the zap, stopwatch and battery icons.

2) Reduce the size of the pins, align with other icons, move leg name up

Let me look into option 1. I like the larger pins

Here it is with the charger icon bottom aligned to the other icons bottoms. V1.2 (37)

I'm fine with the pins remaining the same size, but if possible, I'd like to see the stop name text field moved up slightly to give it a bit more room, centered in the available space between the upper edge of the item container and the upper bound of the metrics row. For example, look at how the 'p' in 'Elko Supercharger' is close to the top of the stopwatch icon.

What would you think about including average segment speed in the summary section, along with energy and efficiency? This would match the suggestion in #418.
