Readme update #5

Quick PR to add a readme file to the main repository page (so that people can get quick information, and so they know to look at the wiki)

Also note that the wiki is not editable with a PR. I've got a plane flight today, so I'll try to look through the wiki for things that were confusing to me and make some small changes. I'll post this to the gselu wiki and we can revert / make changes there, is that ok with you?
