<Solved> Appimage 2.10.20 (Linux Mint) can't read JPG? #52

Hi, I've searched for the solution to this but cannot find it. I apologize for what seems to be a basic question. In short, I am running the latest AppImage for Linux (x86_64) and when I try to open a jpeg file I get unknown file type. When I look in the .config/GIMP_AppImage/2.10/plug-ins folder I don't find anything (ie no file-jpeg executable).

Where do I find these to put them into that folder? I did figure out enough in the searching to see that this is the problem. But I don't see anyone else noting this, so I expect that I'm doing something stupid.

Thanks in advance for any patience and reply. Regards, mconsidine

I think I have figured this out. It seems(?) that a prior install had left a libraries or files lying around in both /.config, /usr, etc locations. In any event, I basically uninstalled, deleted and purged as much of gimp- and gmic-related prior installs as I could find. Running the AppImage (with plugins) now recognizes the files I would expect after re-initializing its list of plug-ins and also has G'MIC available. So I think I'm all set. Many thanks.
