Node.js Workshop

Description

Aim

Server for small, action and multiplayer game like Worms (with bigger maps, weapons, destructible terrain, bots and other entities like animals, orbs etc). We'll use Redis for storing data.

Requirements

After workshops, participants will be familiar with Node.js specific problems. They'll know how to use Redis and why it will be a good use case for it. Also I hope that they'll have fun ;).

Flow

• Participants will work with new features of ECMAScript 6 (in small isolated contexts).
• For each assignment:
  • Small introduction on slides.
  • Checking-out certain tag and filling it in order to resolve task
  • Repeat until set of assignments will be empty ;)

    Duration

One meeting, 5 hours - time-boxed assignments, mostly using existing pieces and connecting them, solving certain and characteristics problems for Node.js.

Server-side:

Client-side:

• Jaws (wrapper for pixelized game entities and Canvas API).
