Annually resolving and standardizing taxonomic issues between our species codebooks and online databases (ITIS and WoRMS) -- code found here. Updating taxonomic_classification and taxonomic_changes tables in gap_products (eventually move to another schema?). Maintaining species codebooks and updating with new codes as needed.

Tracking and recording serial changes to scientific names over identification histories so that a query for an intermediate identification in that chain returns the precedent identification and preferably some metadata describing what's what

First of all, this need points back to the Voucher System issue already raised by Duane. It invokes the need for the database architect that OFIS has already hired.
