This repository supports code used to create tables in the GAP_PRODUCTS Oracle schema. These tables include the master production tables, tables shared with AKFIN, and tables publicly shared on FOSS.
For @Ned-Laman-NOAA : here are two issues and potential solutions to them. If these make sense, I'll make those changes to the tables.
A GOA INPFC area should include ALL strata within that INPFC area because this is what is reflected in the GOA.GOA_STRATA table. Then, it should follow that the DESCRIPTION field for GOA INPFC AREA_ID should be edited to omit the "1 - 500 m" portion or changed to "1 - 1000 m", whichever is more appropriate because we don't really sample down to 1000 m currently.
Historically in GOA.GOA_SUMMARY_STRATA, there are DESCRIPTION values for all INPFC areas and INPFC x DEPTH areas but only those INPFC x DEPTH areas shallower than 500 m. Records for INPFC x DPETH areas in the 501-700 m and 701-1000 m ranges, while present in GOA.GOA_STRATA table, are not in GOA.GOA_SUMMARY_STRATA and thus were not reproduced in GAP_PRODUCTS.AREA. To address @jeanlee-akfin 's issue, we should add records for the 500 - 700 m and 701-1000 m depth ranges INPFC x DEPTH to GAP_PRODUCTS.AREA.
For the GOA INPFC area descriptions, I'm still not sure I understand the utility of the description whether it's 1-500, 1-700, or 1-1000 unless these are representing higher levels of aggregation. 1-500 was particularly confusing since that's the Aleutians and not the Gulf. Anyway, you and I could talk some more about this so I can understand out intent on this one.
These changes have been made to GAP_PRODUCTS.AREA and will be reflected in GAP_PRODUCTS.AKFIN_AREA when we do the next data transfer update:
DESCRIPTION field for GOA INPFC areas have been updated to correctly state the depth range of "1- 1000 meters" instead of "1-500 meters"
Records for these INPFC x DEPTH subareas have been added to designate those deeper (> 500 meters) INPFC subareas: 915,916, 925,926, 935,936, 945,946, 955,956.
