Install (cmake) https://cmake.org/download/ or install anaconda first
@curious1me this helped me with the same issue(using Win10 but anyway): Linux Dlib 19.17.0
Here's the way I installed it.
WINDOWS 10
Install cmake first :
pip install cmake
Then install dlib :
pip install dlib
This should do the work .
I just ran into this error as well while trying to install dlib on a docker image. I had already installed cmake via RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y curl cmake but the error persists.
Any ideas?
I managed to do it by installing from source.
git clone https://github.com/davisking/dlib.git
cd dlib
mkdir build; cd build; cmake ..; cmake --build .
cd ..
python3 setup.py install
I try: sudo pip install dlib Everything is ok.
Install cmake first :
pip install cmake Then install dlib :
pip install dlib This should do the work .
It's not working

Did you find anything for windows in visual studio code? Or do you know anyway of that if yes please help. thankyou!
Hi, I have not tried installing in windows before, but I did see some answers within this link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41912372/dlib-installation-on-windows-10/49538054#49538054 had solutions for windows in visual studio code. (look for answers from 'Marco D.G.' and 'Steven Kryskalla' in that link)
Run:
pip install dlib==18.17.100
Hope this will fix your problem, as it worked for me.
use this one https://github.com/datamagic2020/Install-dlib
Download the dlib files Link - https://drive.google.com/file/d/11Hip8-llWEm5GN3_u4ibI09unL7xCw0g/view?usp=drivesdk And just copy the path of that file and paste it into the terminal. Stable version is 10 among all files that you have been downloaded from the link
In terminal you just need copy the path of that particular file; there are 4 files the choose one which is suitable for your computer work on windows.
I managed to do it by installing from source.
git clone https://github.com/davisking/dlib.git
cd dlib
mkdir build; cd build; cmake ..; cmake --build .
cd ..
python3 setup.py install
You saved my day! Thank you @thiagodma
