We don't have any plans at this point afaik. Where did you see mkinitcpio
announcing that its not going to be maintained anymore?

Which means mkinitcpio is maintained, is the default initramfs in Arch and will remain as such. Nothing to worry about.
Unless you happen to be using a dist like Garuda, which uses Dracut.
Have hit a hard stop as I can't configure Dracut for this.
I will see this issue at weekend, We may add new flag and check for new command.
