I raised an issue about this to data.gov.uk 2 years ago ~ https://govuk.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/4197924
The issue we reported on is the GDS harvester errored on harvest because of a keyword we supplied Precipitation (meteorology)
the harvester message was that tags
must be must be alphanumeric characters or symbols: -_
The initial advice was to replace the opening bracket with an underscore, and lose the closing bracket.
The issue we have is that Precipitation (meteorology)
is a term from a code list, so we shouldn't be changing it or not using it because of GDS issues.
GDS replied
I think that probably can be fixed our end but there won't be a quick fix as it essentially amounts to a feature request.
but I have no idea if this was taken forward.
Data.gov.uk validation doesn't like "Keywords" that have things like brackets in. Perhaps we should mention that, with a 'guidance' to avoid it - separate out strings like "Basic Land and Property Unit (BLPU)" into two separate keywords "Basic Land and Property Unit" and "BLPU".
