Benefit

The Water Optimization program is designed to maintain viable agriculture while reducing water depletion to enhance water availability and minimize impacts on water supply, water quality, and the environment. This is done by providing resources to farmers to develop efficient irrigation infrastructure. Telling the story of what this program is accomplishing has proven challenging. We propose building a public dashboard to help communicate with the general public. This dashboard will share the success stories that are happening in Utah. We want to show the benefits of this program and how it can have a positive impact on the citizens of Utah. GOALS

  1. To showcase and highlight success stories.
  2. To tell the story of what is happening by county, watershed, project type, or water use, etc.
  3. To tell the story of what is happening inside project areas.
  4. To build an easy way to show the public how dollars are spent.

Project Timeline: Within the next 6 months

Acceptance Criteria

Scope of Work

  1. We propose developing a web-based dashboard that includes one central map with all the various activities related to water optimization. We will build in queries and widgets for the data to remain easily accessible.
  2. As part of our public transparency, This dashboard will have story maps that showcase projects in each County and watershed. Each story map will show data related to that project (water use and crop production)
  3. The dashboard will show all data collected from the program. Such as the number of projects, number of change applications, project type, quantity (flood improvements, pivots, drip, etc), and total water use.
  4. The dashboard will be interactive to show data for each category such as project per county, type, water savings, dollars spent, etc. *All data will be stored in Submittable

Task: Take the data from Submittable and create a user-friendly dashboard. With an interactive map that can be accessed from the UDAFs webpage. Deliverable: work with Water Optimization staff to create the dashboard in a user- friendly format Task: Create a story map that can be sorted by county, watershed, and project type (pivot, flood improvement, subsurface drip, etc.) Easy to show in each of these ways of sorting, the number of projects, acres improved, and dollars spent. water savings in acre-feet)

The dashboard must be user-friendly and interactive. All our data is currently stored in Submittable. The dashboard will update regularly as more data comes into the submittable. The dashboard should be similar to the one found at this link https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/0ad39381dc7949c9815a5f7bb9c179eb/
