Same problem here.

Running 2.0beta. 1.8beta works fine for me.

Using a Desire with OpenDesire 4.0.10 (Android 2.2).

In this version you must set gmail account for gtalk instead of jabber account.
Application crash on startup when authentication failed.

Try to delete the application and reinstall it if you set start service on
startup and you can't access to settings.

Next version will be more customizable for connection settings

okay this worked with my gmail account. but how can I talk to my phone now?

That is a good question :) There is no option in gtalk for talking to yourself,
so you may just wait for a notification from your phone and then you'll be able
to talk to your phone by replying.

Alternatively, you can also install a jabber client, configure it with your
gtalk settings, add yourself in your own contacts and you'll be able to
initiate the conversation. For example, pidgin allows that.

A button is to be added in the application for forcing a test message.

hmm thats a good idea, but I think a own account for the phone like in former
versions would be the better idea.

The problem i have is that I don't even get a message if an SMS arrives or
something else what could this be? Or is this also a Gtalk Problem?

If it's a problem with GTalk then a second Account would really be better, than
a chat with myself.

Same problem.

I removed my old jabber account, and add myself as my own contact in pidgin ;
however i don't get notification, and if i write anything i get a 503 error.

Hope this will get fixed soon, i really like this application (well...up until
v2 ;))

While waiting for the update, you can still downgrade to the 1.8-beta
