GitHub export failed after reporting success #109

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I've attempted to export the Google Code repository frc1388-2013 using the
GitHub exporter. I receive email containing:

The project frc1388-2013 has been successfully exported.

Several minutes later, I receive a second email containing:

There was an error migrating frc1388-2013 to GitHub.

  The error is as follows:

  Project: frc1388-2013
  Error migrating repo.

I've renamed the GitHub repo and retried, several times, with the same result.
I've exported other projects from Google Code to Git Hub successfully.

Thank you for the bug report, this does look like a bug in our end. (Both
because we are reporting failure after success, but also because we are failing
to create the sub-repo.)

From the logs:

failed to init empty repo: PUT
https://api.github.com/repos/chrsmith/frc1388-2013.phoenix/contents/README.md:
404 Not Found []

I tried to take a closer look this morning and was unable to reproduce the
underlying problem.

Note that if you retry the export you not only need to delete your GitHub repo
named "frc1388-2013", but also "frc1388-2013.*" for all of the sub repos. (The
Google Code to GitHub exporter will not delete any existing GitHub repos for
you.)

If you still experience problems let me know.
