Support Motorola's Universal Inbox #86

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

I don't use Gmail, even though I have an account for my phone. I do, however
have a few POP3 and IMAP email accounts listed on my phone with notifications
available. I would very much like it if SayMyName was able to announce emails
through those accounts, as well as messages that come in through YouTube,
Facebook and other services accessible from the Messaging app.

Hello,

Which app do you use for your mails? It seems like you don't use default
Gmail-app, right?

SayMyName supports K-9 Mail. Did you try this one?

Thanks for your report
Tom

It may be part of the MotoBlur package that comes with my phone (Motorola
Devour, Android 1.6), but all I can tell is that it is the "default" messaging
app for this phone and handles text messages, emails, and Facebook messages.
The GMail app does recieve messages for my account, such as when you replied to
this post, but SayMyName did not announce anything when it happened. (SayMail
section was enabled and the correct Gmail account was entered in the config)

Do you use the actual version of SayMyName? Should be 2.4.2:

As an update, the app that I use for messages comes in three main parts. The
app names are listed below.

Messaging - com.motorola.blur.messaging (Main App)
Email - com.motorola.blur.email
> Email Engine - com.motorola.blur.service.email
Text Messaging - com.motorola.blur.conversations

Account info appears to be stored in the following two apps:
Accounts - com.motorola.blur.setup
Accounts Storage - com.motorola.blur.setupprovider

I hope this info helps for setting up compatibility with MotoBlur apps (if
possible)

Unfortunately I can't find any further information on the net about Motorola's
apps. I fear they don't allow other apps to notify you.

Sorry

Since development is more active at the moment and I found some hints to
Motorola's architecture, be sure to check this issue more often. Maybe we have
a beta next week.

You can retrieve your POP3 email through GMail and also tell GMail to send mail
under a different email address (see settings at gmail.com). That way you can
replace MotoBlur Email with GMail as your main email app, and so use SayMyName.

I fear we won't be able to support Motorola's apps.

However, keep in mind that you can solve the problem yourself, as Erwin
suggested above.

Sorry
Tom
