The Livestatus docs describe ways to access Livestatus remotely via SSH or xinetd (section 16). The dynamic inventory script should also be able to use those ways.

Remote access via SSH has been implemented.
Accessing the Livestatus socket by mapping it out via xinetd is fairly exotic and also has some security implications. Will not implement this method for now.
