On recent git versions you can specify a branch and submodule initialization on clone

thanks for the contribution! were you able to get bigspace running? i believe there is an error in using the 'resource' module on npm so we've been using 'resource' master at a specific commit. i can update the README with additional instructions

Cheers. I noticed there was an error in the app but didn't dedicate time to fix it, assumed it was expected/current state of the code.
