It's already on the TODO list in the documentation. This patch is generally OK
for a
distro packaging, but prevents the tool to be used *without* having to do 'make
install' (as it overrides default paths), which is probably not desirable.

Would this not be worth adding something like a configure file to this? Meaning
that
it can be built either way?

Jeez - just make a exe for windows rather than require me to download C etc and
do the make stuff.
I'm a simple web programmer who works mainly in php mysql js etc and want
something that I dont have to 'make' - that just works.
Go on - make it easy for us. I dare you.

Dammit, why do the computer geeks make everything so hard. I downloaded it,
read all the instructions, and no way in hell that I could get it to work.
So I found out that skipfish is available in Ubuntu Software Center, so I
installed it, and still I can't get it to work.
I keep getting a message:
bash: ./skipfish: No such file or directory
Unlike the previous user, I can even go without .exe file, I can work within
Ubuntu, but at least make it so I don't have to have a phd in programming just
to make it work.
