From LL: The term reorganization is a bit weird. Bad code smellsare “refactored”. Do you have a reason that you are using reorga-nization instead of refactoring throughout the paper? Recall thatFowler’s code smell book is called “Refactoring"

@llayman : tell me how to handle the following:

i was talking to a refactoring guru and she got all into "semantic preserving transformations".
then i pointed out that we are not ensuring that the same behavior occurs before and after reorgs
in fact, we WANT the program's behavior to change
so its like a programs behavior is ABC, X,Y,Z where A,B,C are things we want to happen (e.g. test suite coverage) and X,Y,Z are things we dont want to happen (array out of bounds error) and when we reorganize with XTREE we hope to preserve A,B,C while dumping X,Y,Z

Okay, makes sense. Reorganizations are what companies and living rooms do, though. I wonder if there's a better one-word term we can use.... Perhaps you are talking about "preventative maintenance – increasing software maintainability or reliability to prevent problems in the future"?
