Create `gh-pages` branch upstream #53

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. In order to deploy a persistent Jupyter book to this repo, we will need to create a gh-pages branch upstream. From there, I can make a PR from my fork's gh-pages for an up-to-date version of the book to be deployed upstream.
