Team's Response

Thank you for the report. We have followed the exact steps that you listed, and we are unable to reproduce this error.

Here, we list several possible explanations for the issue you are facing.

  1. You may be using an older release of StudyBuddy downloaded from our Github page. This issue was fixed in v1.4 using a listener. (See GoalObserver class implementation in DG or code).
  2. From your description, you may have forgot to hit enter after typing goal and 10
  3. Your instructions to reproduce the error may not be a complete description of how you ran into the error.

The daily goal panel is a peripheral (and fun) feature of the application and does not affect how the user manages his task. Moreover, from our testing, it has worked for all possible cases, the user has encountered a very rare situation which may or may not be bug in the application. Following the guidelines on bug severity, we will put the severity of this bug report as Low. This corresponds to "A flaw that is unlikely to affect normal operations of the product. Appears only in very rare situations and causes a minor inconvenience only."

We will set the status as Cannot Reproduce, as none of the team members and other testers have reproduced this error. Also, the information provided is insufficient for reproducing the error. We look forward to following up with you on this possible bug, and we thank you for the bug report.

We also encourage the tutor in-charge to follow the steps listed by the tester and verify that the bug cannot be reproduced.

 Issue response

Team chose [response.CannotReproduce]

Reason for disagreement: 1. The version of StudyBuddy I was using was from the link that was given to me from the Prof and not downloaded from github. If this issue was only fixed in v1.4, it could be a possiblity that your team uploaded the wrong version to Luminus.

  1. As per the instructions of the application, every command and input ended with an "enter". I omitted it because I thought it would be obvious.

  2. My instructions were simply as per stated in my initial report, and I even repeated it multiple times, yet the number of goals were not updated. However, I accept that it's Low as since it only occured to me so it should be rather rare. Yet I do not think that it doesn't affect normal operations of the app. If a user encounters this bug, he/she might be thinking why isn't it updated and since its a goal-oriented scenario, he/she might not want to continue using the app since "they would be unable to reach any inputted task" (even if it's just 1).
