Scrolling while "dragging" and "flicking" is not fluid in las releases #161

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open a document (Pdf or Djvu)
2.Scroll by "dragging" or "flicking"

(with "dragging" and "flicking" i mean: see here
http://static.lukew.com/TouchGestureGuide.pdf)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect smooth scrolling, at least the smoothness present in older versions of
ebookdroid.
I see instead that in any new version release of ebookdroid the scrolling is
worst than in the old versions

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
From 1.3.2 to 1.4.0-dev-r978, all have this non smoothness while scrolling.
I tested on Android 2.1(Eclair) and Android 2.2.1(Froyo)

What device are you using?
I tested in two different devices:
Device 1: Flytouch 2.
A 10 inch china tablet with Android 2.1 and a Resistive one-touch screen with
1024x600 screen resolution.
CPU Infotm ARMV6 800mhz
GPU Vivante GC600

Device 2: Rena3/Rena/Haipad M9 etc...
A 7 inch china Tablet with Android 2.2.1 and a capacitive two-point touch
screen with 800x480 screen resolution
CPU Renesas/nec Cortex A9 Dual-Core 512mhz+512hz
GPU PowerVX SGX530

Please provide any additional information below.
First, sorry to bother with this again.
I think that it is important to say that in version 1.2.2-rc8 the scrolling is
very acceptable in Device 1, and almost perfect in Device 2.

While in last versions, in both devices, pdf scrolling is worst than before BUT
is usable, Djvu documents are almost unusable, it has very bad scrolling, i can
explain it like this: it literally don't scroll, the page just "jump" from one
position to another instead of scrolling.

I must say also that while device 1 is not the fastest device, with version
1.2.2-rc8 worked very acceptable.
The rendering is very fast, that is not a problem, it render pages fast in
older and also in newer versions of ebookdoid, the problem is in the scrolling.

On the contrary Device 2 is a Very Fast and a Very responsive device but it
also has problems with the ebookdroid app, problems not present in other
android apps and even in old ebookdroid versions.

You can find this issue present for other people also if you read android
market reviews, i'm not the only one.

I must say that i'm using version 1.2.2-rc8, but there are a lot of new GOOD
features in new releases that would be wonderful to enjoy, like Djvu rendering
options etc...

thanks for listening
and for the work

I already try, the performance in PDF's is improved only a little if i change
some options, but is not as good as with 1.2.2-rc8, but it is fine.
With Djvu's, no matter with what option i try, i can't get djvu's usable.
The option that make pdf's better is changing Texture bitmap size to 1024*1024.
Djvu's are not getting better with any change of any option.
