What steps will reproduce the problem?

1.downloading a sample bookchapter from
http://press.princeton.edu/chapters/s6946.pdf

2.try them in 1.5.0-dev-r1468.apk using freefonts serif (the best rendering
quality that can be achieved)
3.

What is the expected output?

What do you see instead?
some bold characters overlap with their nearby characters, Problems not exist
in v1.4.2

What version of the product are you using?
1.5.0-dev-r1468

On what operating system?
cm 7.2

What device are you using?
nook tablet

Please provide any additional information below.

I think the pdf file "http://press.princeton.edu/chapters/s6946.pdf "can be
used as a standard testing file before ebookdroid's official release, since
many pdf readers in google market can't properly render this file .

Try font pack with NimbusL serif (legacy).

Did you select installed fonts on the Format specific preference page after the
font pack had been installed?
Font pack installation do not automaticaly change EBookDroid settings

I do select installed fonts on format specific preference page(actually I
have tried all possibilities), there are stil some characters overlapping
when using NimbusL serif .

v1.4.2 and earlier version works fine, I think the most natural way is to
embed the most oftern used fonts in app, and the not so often used fonts as
seperate apk

fonts installed seem not up to date. following link may provide up-to-date
freefonts
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/freefont/freefont-ttf-20120503.zip

It is very strange issue. 1.4.2 uses NimbusL embedded into the MuPDF for that
PDFs that do not has embedded fonts. But this free font does not contain a lot
of glyphs, so we decided to use external fonts: either android's or from
separate font packs.

NimbusL in the external font pack is the same font that was used in 1.4.2 (we
just copied it from MuPDF).

I have tried another mupdf based viewer
orion-viewer<http://code.google.com/p/orion-viewer/>without any
problems, maybe the problems is due to the update of mupdf
library in the latest ebookdroid release.
