Is it possible to allow default orientation by file type? e.g. for PDF
landscape but for fb2 portrait.

Now it is not possible, but can be added. We will think about this feature. Can
you provide example of GUI - how do you think it should be configured.

Right now EBookDroid has a lot of options and configurations so all the system
should be reworked somehow, but we do not have an idea what system is better.
Maybe you can suggest something.

I think you should allow for orientation as it is now but in the by format
screen allow for an override for each individual format.

Why not making this feature a feature of "Book Settings"?
This way every book could have it's own orientation preference that would
override the general preference used for the bookshelf gui and unspecified
books.

Personally I use to force portrait mode since on my device reading in portrait
is better for most books/documents. But some pdfs of slides and some user
manuals require to be read in landscape mode. Being able to set orientation on
a per book basis would help my couch reading a lot. :-)

Generally I believe the more dedicated options a book can take, the better
(right now it's nice, don't get me wrong).

It would also be nice to have, for each book an outline of what specific
settings have been set (for example in a list with check boxes) and the ability
to remove single settings by unchecking them. (Right now, if I long tap on a
book in the bookshelf and choose "Book settings" nothing happens).

Just my two cents.
