That's right. Android can delete any Activities. And one working way to open
book properly - reload it. Maybe we do some work about this issue later...

In 1.3.1, the problem is intermittent. When I open ebookdroid, sometimes it
shows the "Recent books" screen, sometimes it goes to the last book opened.

Using an external dictionary with EBookDroid is difficult. Aside from the
problem mentioned in this ticket, EBookDroid also reloads the page which takes
a few seconds. We really need a way to easily call an external dictionary and
quickly return to the current text.

Which dictionary do you use?
Do it have external API like content provider or smth else?

I use mostly Fora and Pleco. Fora is integrated with some readers (like
FBReader), so problems are unlikely to occur.

I use ColorDict, I don't known about your second question. Most ebook reading
software supports ColorDict/Fora.

Fora Dictionary (unlike ColorDict) returns seamlessly to EbookDroid without
reloading the book. I suppose it's because ColorDict kills the EbookDroid
activity. But I know there is a way to call ColorDict using a semi-transparent
overlay (it works in Orion Viewer).
For the moment, an acceptable work-around is to use an app like Swipe Switcher
to launch Fora, and after looking up your word, exit Fora using the back button
(set the back button to "exit" in the options).
