Technically, data is plural (of datum)

I agree with Deepayan, but the sentence is still awkward. Instead of most of its data are publicly accessible Perhaps use: Most NHANES data are freely accessible to the public

Yes- I was back and forth too. I passed it through an editor and it suggested the change.
