Different versions of .json in new and old version of Lottie/BodyMovin? #1913

Hello everyone,

I have been using Lottie/BodyMovin for some time now, namely for live television graphics in combination with the program CasparCG (HTML graphic templates). It works really well, so I'm really happy with this plugin.

For a long time we were in the midst of projects, so I just couldn't do updates for Lottie or BodyMovin. Now that we've finished some of the projects, we agreed to download the latest versions of Lottie and BodyMovin. We went from version 5.1.20 to 5.5.10, quite an update haha.

Something that was quickly noticed by our programmer was the added option in the advanced export features in the BodyMovin plugin for exporting to an old version of .json. Our programmmer adresses a lot of things directly to and from .json and we wondered if changes were made in .json?

The actual question: Does the 5.5.10 update do something entirely different with the .json files relative to the 5.1.20 version? Does the 5.5.10 update export to a newer version of .json or something like that? And if so, are there know problems with that? We would't want to break a lot of our templates. Also we've just updated from After Effects CC2018 to CC2020. That's why we wanted to update everything including BodyMovin and Lottie.

I hope my question(s) are somewhat comprehensible, I'm not a programmer but the graphic designer in my team. I searched all the issues and didn't come up with something that was likewise the same.

We're using the plugin for exporting to HTML graphics for television for usage in the open source program CasparCG

Hi, if you update the lottie player as well on your rendering pipeline everything should keep working
