Source of Funding, Agency level data #44

Should we add Source of Funding?

In my organization, we only capture if the agency is receiving funding from the United Way. I have many – many times been asked for a data set that only includes information on those agencies for different purposes. I’ve also seen many other i&r databases that capture this data to include all funding sources an they receive – for similar purposes. This ties into regarding Eligibilty Critieria posted on issue 4...this is data that we maintain that allows us to filter our data sets for particular purposes, etc. I also have custom filters on the agency level – such as tracking relationships between agencies – member agency of a certain organization…which is used to filter our data set based on requests, etc.

I agree that funding source is useful information for some organizations though I see that it is not on the list of either required or recommended data elements in the AIRS Standards. The 211 LA County Source of Funds list has 24 different options and is likely used when questions arise about which agencies a particular funding source supports. I think it needs a place in the AIRS vocabulary.
