version-aware taxonomy terms #63

Mentioned by Georgia Sales at AIRS Board Meeting 5/26/15. this would probably just involve an additional field saying what version the AIRS taxonomy is at. But the taxonomy itself would need to have formal versioning, if it does not already.

I think I mentioned this in another thread about classification systems - but I would like to see the ability to specify the specific classification system(s) being used and their versions. My preference would be the ability to include terms from multiple systems. This could be a table describing classification systems broadly (code, name, version) and then an ability to tie term listings to the specific system. That may seem like overkill, and maybe the tie to the specific system is optional, but for those of us that support multiple systems against the same record it would be extremely useful.

Seems like a great idea. Provide the granular functionality, but make it optional.
