Mac Monterey M1 crash at start with sdk 33.1.686 #1401

Hello,

i have a big app in as3start with AIR22 but when MacOsMonterey arrive i have the problem with the E-D & F letter on system

i move to sdk33.1 and with intel processor all it's fine, but now i have a new Macbook with M1 processor and in authoring mode with Animate 2022, my app works fine, but when a create a runtime, she's crash at the begining

any ideas ????

Hi @FrankyFR - just checking, does your app make use of HTMLLoader? or a StageWebView with default (or "false") as the first argument to the constructor?

yes i use StageWebView, i have ti check if it is with false or true, but it's working in authoring mode

if i active Rosetta mode, my app works fine

i understand when i'm in authoring mode with animate, i run with x86 architecture, but when i create my app it's always with arm architecture

there is a way to build or start my app in x86 and not in arm ? by command line ? or option in application.xml ?

of course i want this option inside my app, i dont want my user may have to change manually

If you've created a 'bundle' i.e. you have an application folder e.g. "MyTestApplication.app", then it will have the actual binary executable file at MyTestApplication.app/Contents/MacOS/MyTestApplication. You can stop it trying to load as an ARM64 process by just stripping that file back so it only contains the x86_64 sections:

lipo MyTestApplication.app/Contents/MacOS/MyTestApplication -thin x86_64 -output MyTestApplication.app/Contents/MacOS/MyTestApplication

You might need to re-sign it after doing this.

FYI we're planning on releasing a beta version shortly that should use a platform-provided webview and shouldn't cause this problem on the M1 machines..

i can successfully convert one runtime but for 2nd each time i have :

fatal error: /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/lipo: input file (myapp.app/Contents/MacOS/myapp) must be a fat file when the -thin option is specified

and if i want use the 1st one and juste change application xml, i can start but i have the sdk splashscreen

any new idea ?

Hi

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do or why ..?! If you run that command, then you turn the application from a 'fat' universal binary that contains multiple formats, into a 'thin' binary that only has the x86_64 version. So you can't then modify that file any further..

If you'd got two versions - one with the fat binary, and one with the thin - then you could change the app descriptor XML file so that they can then run as two different apps (I think - you may need to work around some other macOS handling of .app bundles) - and if you're changing the application ID in here, then please just add "-1" or similar onto the second one. If you change anything else in the application ID, then you'll get the splash screen appearing..

i have 2 runtimes, i made new publish runtime wwith animate and sdk33.1

but when i execute lipo command, to the first runtime, all it's good, but one the 2nd i have the error and when i ask for information panel i see the check box to turn rosetta mode

Okay interesting - so for the second one, what you do get if you just do lipo <executable_file> -archs?
