Original ticket #1561 has been split into multiple chunks, this one is regarding Improving translation automation. Please see the original ticket for details on why this ticket has been raised.

Problem description

Translation aren't updated automatically. This is bad !

Here is the history of how translation has been handled in the past:

Some background: #100 #701 #1001 #1161 #1300 and many more, we do have problems with translations.

@jooola Nice to see som activity here. Just having the translations updating and happening on a platform is way better than having them locked because they aren't included right away.

jooola commented 4 years ago

@comradekingu I don't have time enough to make a deep dive for this. Would you like to do it ?

comradekingu commented 4 years ago

I could try.

jooola commented 4 years ago

@comradekingu What is you nick on weblate ?

jooola commented 4 years ago

I see that you are already an administrator on the weblate interface. So you're good to go !

comradekingu commented 4 years ago

@joola Right now it is just locked on Weblate.

I don't know if https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/admin/continuous.html#automatically-receiving-changes-from-github is there or not. (I am just a contributor on here).

In https://hosted.weblate.org/addons/airsonic/airsonic/ I would add Cleanup translation files (can't hurt, avoids extra effort) Language consistency (adds all available components for all added languages) Squash Git commits (per language, as translations target "master" right now", less noisy) Formats the Java properties file (hoping that helps)

https://hosted.weblate.org/settings/airsonic/airsonic/#files "Edit base file" could be switched off to keep it easy for now. Using the translation memory should be on, when things work. This also has a setting for Java latin up top in "File format", but it should be a better bet to just have it be UTF-8 in the repo. I think that sorts out the conversion issue.

Edit: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/airsonic/airsonic/#repository says there is nothing to commit, but that there is an issue, I should seeing what happens when clicking merge, backing up, pulling, and then seeing if things work better helps.

However, https://hosted.weblate.org/settings/airsonic/airsonic/#vcs has nothing in "Repository push URL" and nothing in the repo browser field (though that is just something that should be fixed additionally).

Edit2: There is a whole situation in https://github.com/airsonic/airsonic/tree/update_translation between https://github.com/airsonic/airsonic/pull/1263 and https://github.com/airsonic/airsonic/pull/1300

Edit3: If that all fails, I think forking out some cash for the support package for the support or even michal to fix it makes sense.
