[Feature Request] Is it possible to know the exact locations of your AIS receivers? #46

First of all, this is an amazing project. I’ve been looking for something like this, free of charge. The service being websocket based is also really awesome!

I just wanted to know if you could disclose your data sources or some range estimates for your receivers. I’ve been following some vessels and updates as a little slow sometimes, like the boat leaves the receivers range.

This is because I’ve compared with other networks and the best one has updates every 30s while your service can go silent for a few minutes.

Sorry for asking, as it is free, and I really can’t complain! It’s a great service. I’ve been able to get nicer results in other areas which leads me to believe that this is location based. Thanks!

Displaying the AIS station either on a map or in another that could be implemented but we do not have the capability/services created to do so now. Unfortunately, this is a low priority task for us at this time and thus we cannot supply a timeline that would be at all accurate.

@aisstream does your data come from AISHub? I saw someone mentioning it here but I have no idea if it's true. Either way, thanks for the answer! Are you able to tell me if there are any receivers near Lisboa, Portugal?

Thanks.
