Same problem as above on 6/19/2012. Downloaded and installed in the plug-ins
directory but not recognized by Firefox 13.0.1 running on OS X 10.6.8, 2.4 GHz
Intel Core i7.

Close and restart of firefox allowed for recognition of other plug-ins, but not
the google earth plug-in.

Same problem as above on OS 10.7.4 Firefox 13.0.1. Does this location only
lists different people with the same bug? Is there a location indicating the
actual solution?

Works fine with Safari 5.1.7, but not Firefox 13.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.7.4. Tried
restarting Firefox. Tried logging out and logging in again. FF does not
recognize that it is installed.

Found the solution. You need to reinitialize the plugin registry
(pluginreg.dat):
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problem
s#w_re-initializing-the-plugins-database

Did that and it works
