Create a Discord Community for Uttarakhand Culture #82

Issue Description:

We’re excited to take the next step in building a vibrant community for our Uttarakhand Culture Preservation Project! The project is focused on celebrating and preserving the rich culture, history, and heritage of Uttarakhand. To help foster greater interaction and collaboration, we want to create a welcoming and well-organized Discord community where users, developers, and maintainers can connect and share ideas.

Right now, we've created a blank Discord community, but it still needs channels, roles, bots, and a structure to get things moving! Here's what we need:

Goals for the Community:

  1. Create a Space for Interaction
    We want to bring together people who are passionate about Uttarakhand's culture, history, and natural beauty. Through this community, users can interact with each other, share stories, and provide suggestions to improve our website.

  2. Organize Users by Roles and Regions
    We need levels to differentiate users (based on their roles) and regions (Uttarakhand vs. other states). This will help us understand the makeup of our community while giving everyone a way to contribute.

  3. Foster a Welcoming Environment
    We want our community to be a place of encouragement, where everyone feels welcome to share their thoughts. Our role system will ensure that discussions stay relevant, respectful, and on-topic.

Tasks to be Completed:

  1. Setup Roles and Levels:

    • Maintainer: This role is for those maintaining the project, with access to all channels.
    • Developer: Developers who contribute to the project. They will have access to specialized channels where they can collaborate on technical discussions.
    • User: General members of the community interested in Uttarakhand culture.
    • Uttarakhand vs. Other States: We need to differentiate users based on whether they are from Uttarakhand or other states, so we can better understand who is directly connected to the culture.
    • Username Format: When anyone joins the community, we’ll edit their name to include their role [User, Developer, Maintainer], like:

  2. Create Channels:

    User Channels:

    • Introduction: A place for new members to introduce themselves.
    • General: For casual chats, greetings, and general discussion.
    • Language: Kumaoni, Garhwali, and Jaunsari discussions.
    • Cultural Stories and Jagar: Share stories and regional mantras.
    • History: Talk about Uttarakhand’s history, famous figures, and key events.
    • Spiritual Heritage: Discussions about temples, gods, and spiritual sites.
    • Architecture: Explore Uttarakhand’s unique architectural heritage.
    • Cuisine: Share traditional recipes and cooking methods.
    • Festivals & Events: Highlight regional festivals and upcoming events.
    • Art & Craft: Share local artwork and craft-making traditions.
    • Music & Dance: Dive into regional music, instruments, and dance forms.
    • Traditional Dresses: Discuss traditional attire and its cultural significance.
    • Tourist Treasures: Explore Uttarakhand’s natural beauty and tourist spots.
    • Nature: Focus on the flora, fauna, glaciers, rivers, and peaks of Uttarakhand.
    • Suggest a Name for the Website: Help us choose a meaningful name for the platform, ideally in a native Uttarakhand language.
    • Feature Requests: A place for users to suggest new features for the website.
    • Issue Reporting: Where users can report bugs or issues they face on the platform.

    Developer Channels (Only for Developers to Post):

    • Resolve Issue: All issues from the Issue Reporting channel will be visible here for developers to pick up and work on.
    • UI vs. UX Improvement: Discussion on improving the website’s user experience and interface.
    • AI: Discuss integrating AI, particularly for language translation into Uttarakhand's regional languages.
    • Introduction: Developers introduce themselves to fellow developers.
    • General: General developer chat.

    Maintainer Channels (Visible Only to Maintainers):

    • Introduction: Maintainers introduce themselves.
    • General: General chat between maintainers.

  3. Integrate Bots: Add helpful bots to:

    • Automate role assignments.
    • Facilitate moderation.
    • Assist with general community tasks (such as welcoming new members).

  4. Review README.md and Contributing.md: Before diving into setup, please review these files to better understand our goals and how we approach development. This will ensure that our Discord setup aligns with the project’s mission.

  5. Communication: Please update us regularly on the progress of setting up the community. We want to stay in sync and ensure we’re on the same page throughout the process.

Next Steps:

  1. Begin by setting up the roles and channels as described above.
  2. Add bots that can help with moderation, role management, and community engagement.
  3. After reading the README.md and Contributing.md, feel free to share any ideas you have for improving the community!
