Feature Description

Enhance the Uttarakhand Culture platform by introducing a Language Feature. This feature will allow users to learn common words and phrases in Uttarakhandi languages and use a translation tool. Make them separately (Kumaoni, Garhwali, Jaunsari ) Some Important Resource

Goals

  1. Compile a Vocabulary List:

    • Gather and organize a comprehensive list of words in English, Hindi, and their equivalent in Uttarakhandi dialects (such as Kumaoni, Garhwali, or Jaunsari).
    • This list should include everyday words and phrases used in conversation, culture, and traditions.

  2. Develop a Translator Tool:

    • Create a translator tool (similar to Google Translate) that allows users to input a word or phrase in English or Hindi and receive an accurate translation in one of the Uttarakhandi dialects. Which user have selected.
    • The tool should support both single-word translations and whole sentence translations.
    • Ensure that the translations are contextually appropriate and consider regional variations.

  3. Additional Suggestions:

    • Searchable Dictionary: A simple search function for users to look up words in Uttarakhandi dialects by typing in either Hindi or English words.
    • Learning Mode: Introduce a learning mode where users can learn Uttarakhandi words through quizzes or daily word challenges.
    • Voice-to-Text Translation: Optionally, explore the possibility of adding a voice-to-text feature that allows users to speak in English or Hindi and receive Uttarakhandi translations in written form.
    • Open to any other language-related features that can enhance user experience.

The objective of this project is to address the concerning trend of the younger generation losing touch with their cultural roots and to safeguard the traditional rituals, gods, and unique practices of Uttarakhand. We believe it's crucial to bridge this gap and ensure the preservation of our cultural identity for generations to come.

Our primary focus at the moment is on building a language feature that allows people to learn their regional language. This feature includes:

1. Language Feature:

  • Compiling a list of common words in English, Hindi, and what they called in Uttarakhandi language.
  • Developing a translator tool that functions similarly to Google Translate, enabling users to translate whole sentence or word into Uttarakhandi Language.
  • Open to your suggestions for additional language-related features.

After implementation of the language feature, our next objective is to compile a comprehensive and detailed list of festivals celebrated in Uttarakhand. This will serve as a valuable resource for people to understand and appreciate the rich tapestry of festive traditions in the region. After that we will add some new feature. In future we are going to scale this website to add all information about Uttarakhand

Before we can proceed with building these language-related features, we need to gather extensive information about Uttarakhandi language. For this purpose, we have created a "Language" file in our repository. This file will serve as a repository of all information related to the Uttarakhandi language, including details on the number of languages spoken in Uttarakhand, a comprehensive word list, and any other valuable information that can assist us in developing these features.

Your contributions to this "Language" file are highly valuable and will play a crucial role in achieving our objectives. You can add information, references, and anything relevant to the Uttarakhandi language. This collaborative effort will help us build a strong foundation for our language-related features.
