It sounds like what happened is that your install wasn't activated yet, but somehow one of your tabs got the scripts injected, but then revoked (since you haven't activated it). Looking at the code, I'm not sure how that would happen right now though, but it was a bug in an older version.
The functionality won't work until you've entered a license key, started a trial or requested free access
I did start a trial, hence the pop up tab later. I also refreshed the page a couple of times before YouTube would load at all.
Oh okay, what's your browser and version. And do you have other extensions installed?
It's Firefox 118.0.1 on Linux. I have a lot of other extensions installed, including uBlock and SponsorBlock.
The other YT-related plugins are Shorts Remover and Search Cleaner. They don't do much on the home page though.
After installing, I was scrolling through my YouTube home page, and DeArrow popped a little settings "window" over a video asking me to set the defaults. I clicked all over but was unable to get the dropdowns to work. Then I opened the browser inspector and could click once before it stopped letting me again. Going back and forth between the inspector and the settings dialog I was eventually able to configure it, but it was a hassle.
In general, it did not fix a lot of the titles. The paywall for it, however low, creates a barrier to entry for many contributors. Then when I was writing a post in another tab it opened a tab pulling me away from what I was doing to tell me to pay for it. It is ironic how quickly advertising takes over isn't it?
