For now, please disable the "Unlisted check" setting
That did the trick. So this is a known bug?
There have been a few reports recently, only on Firefox, but I still haven't been able to reproduce it myself.
Some people have also said that making a new profile fixes it.
Hello @ExNought ..
I noticed that you are using a "Video DownloadHelper" extension, and wanted to warn you that more than one variant of it, with that exact same icon, uses an executable that it stores locally on your system. More than one variant of this executable contains malware, or the ability to download malware, or execute remote malware, all of the above, etc.
Obviously, I have no idea if the "Video DownloadHelper" which you have installed poses any risk, but I wanted to make you aware, in case you were not. I also suggest youtube-dl (which I am in no way affiliated with) if you're in need of a replacement. Best of luck.
While I am here, I'd like to take this opportunity to truly thank @ajayyy and everyone else involved with SponsorBlock! What an amazing contribution you have all made.
Idea: Ask for permission to use "youtube.com" domain if a connection fails.
I was hinted here from https://github.com/ajayyy/SponsorBlock/wiki/Fix-Ad-Blocker-Blocking-SponsorBlock's-Requests. However, it seems that indeed it's uBlock Origin that causes this: When I disable it, it no longer happens. Adding the filter mentioned there does not help.
I was not able to whitelist channels until I enabled this this:
That solved the problem for me. I don't know if it's dissabled by default or I did it accidentally.
Not sure why this is closed, it's sttill happening.
I'm also still having this issue, disabling AdBlock Plus and PiHole both have no effect
I've tried disabling uBlock Origin, and this issue is still going on.
Why is this marked as "Closed", anyway? This should be reopened.
+1
I have this issue as well on Microsoft Edge (the Chromium Version)
@NicholasLAranda Thanks, I hadn't published the update to the Microsoft store. It should be fixed there when after they review it.
When I open any website containing a YT video (embedded or full) I get the warning that Sponsorblock can't reach the backend.
I usually run a pretty tight ship on my browser, I am usually using PrivacyBadger, uMatrix and uBlock Origin, but even though I disabled all those addins and restarted the browser I still get those popups.
The fix proposed unter https://github.com/ajayyy/SponsorBlock/wiki/Fix-Ad-Blocker-Blocking-SponsorBlock's-Requests does not help me sadly. Can you point me in the right direction? I also tried if enabling scripts on sponsor.ajay.app in uMatrix made a difference (when it was enabled) but also to no avail...
Pictures for visualising the issue. I can provide further details to my configuration and browser settings if needed.
