Add discussion of the effect of digitization (substantial comment #1)

Even though the thesis does not use digitized data, add a discussion of the effects, e.g. review of studies on digitized data.

This issue may be broken down into smaller issues at a later date.

2D hits with arrival time info should allow 3D reconstruction, but

• induction planes (non-charge collecting readout planes) are challenging; have to be designed to yield smaller SNR for pulses than the collection plane; difficult and weakly dependent on structure of ionisation signal
• Often (e.g. Icarus, MicroBooNE) built such that there is no shield plane (Frisch grid) in front of the first induction plane, so worst SNR here.
• Pure 2D readout (e.g. GLACIER strip readout) suffers systematically from ghost hits (2 or more arriving simultaneously); 3 readout planes break degeneracy from the symmetry of just 2 planes, so all serious proposals have 3 instrumented planes
• Broken or noisy wires are a challenge
• Cross-talk of wires or strips; hit multiplicity is really a problem here. If several adjacent wires fire at the same time, cross talk and real signal mixed. No way to disentangle separate hits, hence the charge measurement becomes useless (location should be ok but no way to determine Q)
• 2D readout of 3D events suffers from projection effects

Projection effects are missing in Lamu; also readout noise, ghosting, crosstalk, etc.

N.B. None of these are digitisation effects, these are all analog effects and simply impact the ability to produce localised hits from the readout.
