4 years ago @chinmaykulkarni83 Should we calculate XIRR for a PMS? XIRR is usually used when there are multiple transaction investments happening over a period of time like SIP. In case of PMS, we do not have transactions, just the invested and current amount.

4 years ago Hi Chinmay, spoke to Sharang about this and explained the issue he is facing around PMS.
Unlike Abs. returns, the XIRR is dependent on various investments done at different time intervals. Ex. Both of the below have same invested and current amount. However, since the dates are different, the final % value also will differ. Invested Jun 2020 -3000000 Feb 2020 -3000000 Current Aug 2020 3200000 Aug 2020 3200000 47.13% 13.82% Since we are reading the PMS from the PDF, not all PMS gives the initiation date. Hence we cannot identify when the investment started. Also, there may have been multiple purchases and redemption of PMS that may have happened which we also do not get. These values also impact XIRR.
For mutual funds since we have all transactions, XIRR can be calculated accurately. For PMS it will not be the case.

4 years ago You had mentioned that the transactions added in Zoho should not be considered as the source of truth. Hence we were never saving the data and was just using these transactions as a reference to match the PMS PDF with the client.
If you want us to use these transactions we will need to store them in our DB against a PMS and then run the calculations on them. Do let us know if we can use this.
On a side note, was just checking the transactions from Zoho to the one generated from PMS statement. MOSL for Jeet Jagdhane has these invested amount values Zoho - 45,00,000.00 Statement - 43,45,223.54
The invested amount from the statement is not matching the value from Zoho.

Hence we cannot identify when the investment started. Also, there may have been multiple purchases and redemption of PMS that may have happened which we also do not get. These values also impact XIRR.
For mutual funds since we have all transactions, XIRR can be calculated accurately. For PMS it will not be the case.

If point 1 is true, wanted to confirm the following:
- For XIRR at a mutual funds class level - we take all mutual funds transactions done by the client regardless of the mutual fund product.
- For the family view, XIRR at a mutual funds class level - we take all mutual funds transactions done by all the members in a client's family regardless of the mutual fund product.
- Currently we do not have the transactions of a PMS. We only get when the current and invested value in the PMS file.
