Model re-set and new reading list | Weekly Research Update

This week I restarted the model evaluation run with the old initial conditions. At the time of writing, the run has made it to mid-March without issue. I have also started thinking about literature for this upcoming quarter and my upcoming presentations. Some proposed reading lists are provided below. Model re-set Last week we realized that we tried to change too many things at once for the model evaluation run. We agreed to take a step back and use the old initial conditions for now, but keep the biogeochemistry changes. Your reading list looks good except for Hansen and Rattray (should be 1965). This is important historically, and you should read it sometime. But it is tough going in terms of how the physics is explained, and there are some unjustified assumptions that make their eventual solution suspect. To get the same content with clearer (I hope) notation and broader scope of solution types I suggest you turn to my paper:

Glad to hear you dove into the kdtree thing. It is confusing, I agree, and if you understood it in 2 days that is about 10x faster than me. It is the right tool for this task.

As you know, some branches of my work are moving more and more into flood modeling. I'm glad to see you trending that way as well!

Other possible hypoxia papers: Wilson, R.E., Bratton, S.D., Wang, J. and Colle, B.A., 2015. Evidence for directional wind response in controlling inter-annual variations in duration and areal extent of summertime hypoxia in western Long Island Sound. Estuaries and coasts, 38, pp.1735-1743.

Rabalais, N.N. and Turner, R.E., 2019. Gulf of Mexico hypoxia: Past, present, and future. Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin, 28(4), pp.117-124.

In both cases I'm aware of the work in the above systems, but I haven't read these papers. I'd be interested to hear your opinions if you are familiar with them Parker. Especially GOM.
