Two-Layer Budget Test in Lynch Cove | Weekly Research Update

This week I completed a two-layer budget test in Lynch Cove! I would not have accomplished this without Jilian’s support.

Great that you were able to get the budget calculations working in one week (even if questions remain)! Here are a couple of thoughts: 1) I'm always nervous about using the error term in a budget to represent a process, but maybe this is because I'm more accustomed to using field observations that don't have conservation equations imbedded in them. It would be nice to find some way to confirm that this error is really describing the vertical flux. 2) Seems most likely that the sign error on the exchange flow is an error somewhere. But is it also possible that the freshwater source (Skokomish) right at the inlet entrance is influencing it? 3) I wonder how sensitive these results are to the interface depth. Is the interface depth different in the growing season than in the winter?
