Clean up license file #8

The COPYING file contains the GNU GPL v2 license text, but also describes how to use it for new projects (in the "How to Apply These Terms to Your New Programs" section starting on line 282). Would it be appropriate to remove that section to avoid confusion (mentions strange example company names etc)?

I'd leave it, since it is part of the text of the official GPL downloadable at: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.txt

If anything, I'd suggest replacing with the downloadable version (which has a few trivial whitespace differences), so that the SHA sums match. There are license scanners out there that check for these things for compliance reasons, and it's probably best to match with the official upstream file.
