Spinner Inconsistent Between Linux Shells #1

The spinner used (briandowns) is wildly inconsistent, and in some cases unintelligible, across linux shells. It doesn't seem to work at all in the bash shell under Centos7. Issues also reported with other shells, https://github.com/briandowns/spinner/issues/55, and Unbuntu.
